Dallas Mavericks Make Deadline Moves
Trades Bolster Roster
The Dallas Mavericks made two trades before Thursday's deadline, acquiring Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards and P.J. Dozier from the Orlando Magic. In exchange, the Mavericks sent Spencer Dinwiddie and a second-round pick to the Wizards, and Justin Holiday to the Magic.
Gafford Provides Rim Protection
Gafford, a 24-year-old center, brings much-needed rim protection to the Mavericks. He is averaging 12.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game this season. His presence in the paint should help the Mavericks improve their defense, which has been ranked in the bottom half of the league for much of the season.
Dozier Adds Depth
Dozier, a 25-year-old guard, provides depth to the Mavericks' backcourt. He is averaging 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game this season. His versatility and ability to play multiple positions should give the Mavericks some much-needed flexibility.
