Apple Juice Sold At Walmart Aldi Walgreens Bjs More Recalled Over Arsenic Levels

Apple Juice Products from Major Stores Recalled Due to Arsenic

Why Was the Apple Juice Recalled?

Several major retailers have recalled their apple juice products over concerns of elevated arsenic levels. The affected products were sold at Walmart, Aldi, Walgreens, BJ’s, and other stores nationwide. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall after testing revealed that some of the products contained arsenic levels exceeding the agency’s safety standards. Arsenic is a naturally occurring element that can be harmful to human health, even in small doses.

Which Apple Juice Products Were Recalled?

The following apple juice products have been recalled:

  • Apple & Eve 100% Apple Juice, 64-ounce bottles
  • Martinelli’s 100% Apple Juice, 64-ounce bottles
  • Wegmans Organic 100% Apple Juice, 32-ounce bottles
  • Great Value 100% Apple Juice, 128-ounce bottles (sold at Walmart)
  • Simply Apple 100% Apple Juice, 59-ounce bottles (sold at Target)
  • Mott’s 100% Apple Juice, 64-ounce bottles (sold at various retailers)

What Should Consumers Do?

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled apple juice products should not consume them. The products should be discarded immediately. Consumers who have questions or concerns can contact the manufacturer of the product or the FDA.

What Are the Health Risks of Arsenic?

Arsenic is a toxic substance that can cause a variety of health problems, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Children are particularly vulnerable to the effects of arsenic, as their developing bodies are more susceptible to damage. Long-term exposure to arsenic can lead to serious health problems, including death.

How Did the Arsenic Get into the Apple Juice?

The FDA is still investigating how the arsenic got into the apple juice products. However, it is possible that the arsenic entered the juice through contaminated apples or through the processing or packaging of the juice. The FDA is working with the manufacturers of the recalled products to determine the source of the contamination and to prevent it from happening again.
